Date

March 2025

Project type

Collective Residential Center

Urban Design Studio

Lead by Arch. Oren Ben-Avraham and Arch. Iris Kashman

:

The project redefines the notion of home within the urban realm. It introduces a renewed model of urban life as a spatial and social response to uncertainty and fragmentation in a peripheral city.

Home, beside a home project reimagines the center of Kiryat Shmona as a shared urban home, a place where emotional memory, care, and belonging are spatially embedded. By responding to the city's physical and social ruptures, the project introduces a new urban system based on compact housing, shared community spaces, and flexible everyday infrastructure. Through a redefined ground floor as an active relational platform, the design connects people, emotions, and space. It proposes a new urban approach that re-scales the city to a human dimension, offering a soft and inclusive urban fabric that supports return, continuity, and healing.
